The Setting Wine
Enjoy a private tasting of The Setting Wines for 2 at Bacchus Landing either in the California sunshine on the beautiful open piazza or in The Setting private cabana.
Established in 2014, The Setting is a collection of luxury wines created by three friends; Jeff Cova, Noah McMahon, and winemaker Jesse Katz. As the first winemaker to make the Forbes “30 under 30” list, Jesse’s experience spans 19 harvests at internationally acclaimed wineries such as Chateau Petrus, and Robert Foley, and was a part of the winemaking team at Screaming Eagle. The Setting Wines is a culmination of relationships spanning decades from Napa to Sonoma County, sourcing from some of the most prestigious vineyards both valleys have to offer.
Bacchus Landing
Bacchus Landing is situated at the crossroads of three of Sonoma County’s premier wine regions, and in the heart of Healdsburg. Bacchus is the home of 5 luxury tasting rooms and features its own large open patio where you can sit back and fully enjoy your wine experience. Whether you choose to spend your time in the spacious Setting tasting room, out on the piazza at your own café table, or on the greens with picnic tables, bocce courts, and lawn games, there is plenty of space to relax with your friends and family.
Aperture Cellars
Experience the diversity of Sonoma County’s premier cool-climate Bordeaux varietal vineyard sites in the elegance of the Aperture gallery and tasting lounge. Seated in the newly designed luxury space, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the estate vineyards, your dedicated host will share the history of the property, the intention of the design, and the record-breaking collection of Aperture wines with you. Aperture is the passion project founded by esteemed winemaker Jesse Katz in 2009, inspired by his experience traveling the world with his famous photographer father, Andy Katz. As you begin your tasting, you will be greeted with a glass of French grower Champagne upon your arrival and you will go on to explore a customized range of the winery’s most limited production and highly coveted offerings. A collection of photographic artworks, curated by Andy Katz, is exhibited throughout the space. The flight of wines will be served alongside seasonal food pairing accompaniments.
Winemaker to the Stars – Jesse Katz
Jesse handcrafts amazing wines with a rich palette. Recognized as the “Winemaker to the Stars” Jesse has been named 40 under 40 Tastemaker by Wine Enthusiast and was the first winemaker on the Forbes 30 Under 30. With multiple 100 point wines to his name, a bottle of his 2015 The Setting Wines just became the most expensive single bottle of wine ever sold, earning $350,000 in 2017 only to be beaten by selling a 6-liter bottle of The Setting at Emeril Lagasse’s annual charity wine auction for $1,000,000 in 2021. He also produces custom wines for athletes and celebrities like Tony Hawk, Shep Gordon, as well as Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel’s wedding wine. He has also been featured by multiple media outlets including Wine and Spirits, Food and Wine, Drinks Business, Wine Advocate, Worth, Bloomberg, Huffington Post, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, FOX News, People, ESPN, Forbes, People, AOL, Esquire, Channel News Asia, and other national and international publications.
