The Classic Tuscany selection includes 3 bottles of each of the following wines:

Brunello di Montalcino Cielo D’Ulisse Podere Le Ripi 2015

Cielo d’Ulisse is an amazing Brunello, and can certainly be considered among the great Tuscan wines that are produced based on the principles of biodynamic agriculture. The wine displays a spectacular, intensely red garnet color. The aromas are characteristic of the Sangiovese Grosso grape, with hints of blackberries, raspberries and plums, accompanied by elegant notes of undergrowth and balsamic bursts. Aging in large oak barrels brings out the typical, delicate notes of vanilla. Fresh in the mouth, with vibrant tannins. The sip is rich and fruity, the structure is powerful and determined, all divinely supported by an acidity that gives the wine a unique balance. An absolute jewel!

Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Conti Capponi Vigna La Fornace 2016

Conti Capponi is one of the most historical wineries in the Chianti region. This noble family has origins dating back to the 15th century, with a history inextricably linked to wine and this splendid territory. The color of this wine is a magnificent ruby red with garnet reflections. The nose is a sequence of aromas that ranges from ripe plum and blackcurrant to forest wildflowers. The aging in oak does not cover the fruit notes, but instead compliments them with hints of delicate, warm spices. There are lovely hints of moist tobacco. In the mouth it is soft and balanced, fragrant and fresh. The tannins are thick but at the same time fine and graceful. A bottle that distinguishes itself for its elegance and finesse.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Montemercurio Messagero 2016

Montepulciano has always been one of the most important and scenic wine areas in Tuscany, together with Montalcino and Chianti, and its enduring blends are deeply rooted in history. In the glass, the color is an intense red ruby. Aromas consist of typical ripe berries and plum, followed by hints of vanilla and light licorice, cloves and black pepper. In the mouth the wine is round, smooth, ideal tannins, not too dry and not too sour with a long finish. Absolutely easy to drink, both clean and crisp. Il Messaggero is most certainly a champion of balance. A wine well done, very versatile in food pairing. Of course it goes well with red meat and game, but also a lovely dish of pasta with an important meat sauce ragù can stand up to this elegant wine without being overpowered.

Bolgheri Ruit Hora Caccia Al Piano 2017

Located along the Tuscan Coast, the winery Caccia al Piano has belonged to the Berlucchi family, one of the great families in Italian winemaking, since 2003. This wine displays an intense ruby-red color in the glass. The nose is rich and full, with hints of dark berries and aromatic herbs. Interesting hints of spice combine with woody and toasted notes. The sip is rich and mature. The tannins are not aggressive and are perfectly integrated with the wine’s acidity. The medium structure has a long persistence, well supported by the aromatic complexity.

Taste of Italy Selection ‐ 12 Bottles of Italian Red Wine Shipped to Your Home

I-3457-2V

This Experience Includes:

  • 12 bottles of Italian red wine shipped to your home
  • Descriptive notes for each wine
  • Video presentation and sommelier guided tasting
  • Winspire booking & concierge service

Enjoy a special collection of 12 bottles of Italian red wine that perfectly represent the best terroirs of one of the most important countries for wine lovers in the world. These labels and vintages, selected by our Italian sommelier team, are from boutique wineries with high critic scores and are difficult to find in the US. You’ll receive descriptive notes for each wine along with a video presentation and guided tasting with our sommelier.

The Taste of Italy selection includes 3 bottles of each of the following wines:

Brunello di Montalcino Fattoi 2015

Fattoi is the perfect example of a traditional style of Brunello that is intense, full and rich in personality, at times even edgy, with an impressively full expression of the territory. The winery consists of 9 hectares of vineyards, located in Santa Restituta and today, with Leonardo and Lamberto, continues to give rise to red wines with impeccable character and admirable craftsmanship that leaves a footprint.

Barolo Negretti 2016

The Negretti winery is a young and dynamic company bringing innovation to the Langhe region, while at the same time remaining loyal to the traditions handed down by their great-grandparents. Founded in 2002, today the winery is run by brothers Massimo and Ezio, who give the wine a distinctive, fresh imprint, where classic style and innovation come together to obtain an intriguing level of quality that continues to reach higher. With wines that are striking for their refinement and genuine elegance, this small winery is making big strides and establishing a name even beyond Italian borders.

Barbaresco Rocche Dei 7 Fratelli Lodali 2017

Barbaresco was considered for many years to be the younger sibling, while all of the focus and attention was dedicated to the more famous Barolo, but the history of Barbaresco finally began to detach itself from that of Barolo towards the end of the 19th century. It began to carve out an increasingly important role, becoming one of the most renowned reds in the world. The small denomination belongs to three small villages: Neive, Barbaresco and Treiso. It is precisely in this last one that the Lodali winery has its base, where three generations have dedicated themselves with passion and tenacity to the production and exaltation of Barbaresco.  What we get is a Barbaresco that is ready to be tasted immediately, and with great satisfaction.

Amarone Tenuta Sant’Antonio 2016

The Tenuta Sant’Antonio winery was founded in 1989 when the four Castagnedi brothers, united by their passion for wine, gave life to a new project by combining the 20 hectares inherited by their father with 30 newly acquired hectares. Today the winery counts over 100 hectares in one of the most suitable areas in Italy for viticulture, with a modern and well-equipped cellar. They are without a doubt considered one of the best known and well appreciated companies in the Valpolicella region.  The wine has a deep, impenetrable ruby red color, a result of the accumulation of polyphenols caused by the initial withering of the grapes.

  • 12 bottles of Italian red wine shipped to your home
  • Descriptive notes for each wine
  • Video presentation and sommelier guided tasting
  • Winspire booking & concierge service

Receive a special set of 12 bottles of Italian red wines picked by our sommelier team for you. These labels and vintages are highly rated and difficult to find in the US. You’ll receive descriptive notes for each wine along with a video presentation and guided tasting with our sommelier.

The Special Tuscany selection includes 3 bottles of each of the following wines:

Brunello di Montalcino Santa Giulia 2015

2015 was a very hot year in contrast to a rainy 2014. This vintage has been classified with a maximum of votes, however the warmer weather particularly helped the colder areas, rather than the ones more exposed to heat, where the alcohol and characteristic aromas of cooked fruit prevail just a tad too much. Instead, here we find perfect balance. Ruby red in the glass, with the presence of soft garnet highlights, typical of Brunello. Wonderful nose of cherry and leather, with nuances of earthy notes that are brought forth with oxidation. Elegant oak notes. This wine is a young exemplar, but already has the making of a champion.

Brunello di Montalcino Anno Domini 1441 Castello Tricerchi 2015

The Brunello is a clear and intense ruby red color, with garnet reflections. On the nose it is complex, intense, and balsamic, carrying notes of ripe cherry, chocolate and tobacco. The spices are slight, never invasive and the flowery hints of violet are lovely. In the mouth we find the same fruity notes, magnificently balanced by the minerality. The tannins are smooth and the acidity pleasant. Long and juicy finish. An excellent wine with huge potential of developing over the years.

Poggio Alle Nane Le Mortelle Antinori 2017

The wine shows up in the glass with a deep red color. The nose is striking for its varietal character with sensations of ripe black berry fruits and uniting notes of mountain herbs, black currant and thyme. The hints of licorice, violets, balsamic and floral complete the picture, in total harmony with sweet spices. The palate is rich and elegant, potent, with lovely, silky tannins and a long and persistent finish. The wine closes with lovely notes of bitter chocolate, wild cherries, tobacco and licorice.

Merlot Quintore Toscana IGT Gualdo del Re 2016

The intense ruby red is immediately striking in the glass. The nose promptly seduces without exaggeration with a harmonious and elegant mix of succulent blackberries and enveloping marasca cherry jam that together give sweetness and freshness. The vanilla note opens the way to a light spicy texture followed by hints of mint, chocolate and balsamic impressions. The entry into the mouth is soft but gradually becomes dynamic, without ever being too much. The tannins are dense and velvety. The freshness supports the sip until the long finish returns, which is characterized by pleasant spicy and menthol. Even for those who consider a pure Merlot a little bit tricky, with its buttery and sweet seductions, will be pleasantly surprised by the momentum of this wine that leaves the mouth clean in a way that only some Bordelaise Merlots are able to do.

You’ll receive descriptive notes for each wine along with a video presentation and guided tasting with our sommelier.

The Best of Italy selection includes 3 bottles of each of the following wines:

Brunello di Montalcino Biondi Santi 2011

The color is a vibrant, bright ruby red. Aromas are intense, rich and very complex. A warm and embracing vintage, the bouquet of Brunello 2011 has an enchanting medley of generous fruity and flowery notes, including hints of black cherries, blood orange and wildflowers. The elegant yet muscular structure is driven by an attractive, savory freshness and by silky tannins which lead towards a warm finish that lingers in the mouth. Simply a masterpiece!

Barolo Lazzarito Mirafiore 2015
A Barolo of typical garnet red color, it offers an elegant note of rose petals and cherry followed by a stream of spices such as nutmeg, bay leaf, black pepper, as well as ripe red fruit and licorice. In the mouth it is rich and full bodied, with powerful and harmonious tannins and a vibrant acidity that favors a long finish. You will recognize in this wine some aromas that are typical of the land it is produced in, such as hazelnuts, underbrush, truffles and mushrooms. The structure of the tannins is on the verge of perfection. This wine will definitely make you stop and appreciate every single sip.

Amarone Della Valpolicella Ca’Rugate 2015

Ca’ Rugate is expressed in a fascinating bouquet of berries and black fruit, dried flowers, anise, licorice and hints of black cherries in alcohol, with a spicy, earthy finish. In the mouth it is dense, warm and gentle, certainly not vertical, nor sharp, but rather round and soft. These characteristics make it a wine with an international taste. It finishes with an excellent persistence and an aftertaste reminiscent of the flavor of the dried grapes from which the vinification process began.

Sagrantino di Montefalco Caprai Valdimaggio 2015

Valdimaggio has become one of the symbols of the winery. 2015 was a generous year, and this wine displays a great personality that is intense, robust, and almost rough. In the nose it is extremely rich, with red fruit jam, sweet spices, and cherry in alcohol. The notes of violets are elegant, gracious, and the freshness is remarkable. As any respectable Sagrantino, the tannins are strong but already manageable despite the young age, however it leaves a long persistence in the mouth, drying it out. All you need is to match this wine with succulent dishes that encourage saliva production, and the magic pairing begins.
